Obtaining Vital Records
Call or write the appropriate office for current fees.
When ordering records
provide complete identifying information:
Full names, parents and sex of child (for birth records),
spouse (for marriage/divorce/annulment records),
complete dates and locations of birth/marriage/divorce/death.
In most cases you must also STATE YOUR PURPOSE FOR REQUESTING THE RECORD
and STATE YOUR RELATIONSHIP to the parties named in the vital record.
Failure to provide this information will result in delay or denial of your request.

Records before World War I are somewhat spotty and incomplete.
A few birth records from 1898-1900 are available in the county courthouse;
it may be easier for you to search these 1898-1900 records by using
film 497,780 at your local Family History Center.
Records of probates are available through the County Clerk or, in some cases,
on microfilm available through the Family History Center.

Some older divorce records are also available through the Family History Center.
Adoption Records
Information on modern adoptions is generally not available;
consult an attorney or agency specializing in adoptees' rights.
Some 19th century adoptions are recorded in court record books
available on microfilm through the Family History Center.
These are handwritten, unindexed books; contact County Coordinator for help
since most of these have already been extracted for this Piute County project.
