Note: The above charge weights are the volume equivelent, not the physical weight! Use the same size powder, either 2F or 3F as you would with black powder. Set your powder measure to the volume of powder that you would normally be using. Seat the projectile firmly against the powder, but do not compact!

NOTE: All Charges are volume-equivelent charges, NOT BY WEIGHT. Either 2F or 3F powder may be used, the burn rate is the same, and will give the same performance. Velocities in these and other calibers will be the equivelent as those obtained with black powder or pyrodex. American Pioneer Powder is designed to be loaded in a similar manner as black powder. The powder charge should fill the case up to about 1/16" above where the bottom of the projectile will seat to. This will give the optimum performance. You should NEVER leave an air gap in a case, or fill a case to the point of compacting the powder further!! The above volume weights of powder were measured using modern solid head cases, but depending on the brand of brass, your powder charge may vary. Don't rely on the above weights, but fill YOUR brand of case to the point where the bullet will compress the powder about 1/16" and weigh that amount out to set your powder measure. It is best to load without any fillers, wads or grease cookies, as they can and will result in lowered results and/or other problems!

Note: When using sabots, make sure you have a tight fitting sabot! Many sabots/rifles combinations were made very loose so you can keep shooting with a fouled or dirty bore. If the pellet is crushed or broken during loading, that is fine - it will still work the same! STICKS are a solid compressed charge that are durable for carry into the field. American Pioneer Powder and STICKS burn cleanly, leaving a clean bore round after round. Check for a tight fit for best performance and use NO lubes of ANY kind!!!!
